For Referring Physicians

We thank you for your referrals. Our program at the Obesity Consult Center at Tufts-New England Medical Center is unique among many worldwide and has achieved stunning results having treated several thousand patients.

The OCC offers comprehensive weight loss programs encompassing both medically-supervised weight loss programs and surgical programs. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we bring together talented clinicians from many fields dedicated to helping people with obesity. We combine the most recent knowledge and techniques in nutrition, medicine, behavioral health psychology, and surgery for weight loss and maintenance. We carefully evaluate each individual's needs and find the best treatment options for them.

Our staff employs three psychologists. We also have two internists, two registered dietitians, a physician's assistant and 3 staff surgeons who do gastric bypass surgery and adjustable laparoscopic banding in appropriate patients.

Your patient will first be welcomed by a member of our Behavior Health team for an initial screening. Following that, there will be additional meetings with one of our internists and nutritionists. There are skill-building groups to complete and then the full clinical team will meet to finalize their evaluation.

If medical weight loss is the optimal choice, a program is then designed individually for your patient.

If surgery is recommended, your patient will meet individually with the surgeon and a surgical date will be set. Following surgery, we offer comprehensive support programs to all our patients.

We hope to sustain a lifelong relationship with you and your patient.

We thank you for the confidence you have in us to send us your referrals and please don't hesitate to contact our office should you have any questions. We would be happy to evaluate and treat any of your obese patients.

For more information, your patients can either call us or explore this web site to learn more.

On behalf of the staff,
Isaac Greenberg, Ph.D.
